AGP Tennessee Launches Medicare Plans

Amerigroup Tennessee, Inc. Launches Medicare Plans in 25 Middle Tennessee Counties

$0 Premium Plans Available during Medicare’s Annual Election Period

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013) – Amerigroup, a wholly owned subsidiary of WellPoint, Inc., announced its Tennessee health plan will offer new low-cost Medicare options for 25 counties in Middle Tennessee. Members can select their Medicare plans during the Annual Election period (AEP), Oct. 15-Dec. 7.

Amerigroup Tennessee, Inc., an Amerigroup Corporation (“Amerigroup”) subsidiary, has launched a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP), Specialty+Rx (HMO), and a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan (MAPD), Balance+Rx (HMO), for residents of the following Middle Tennessee counties: Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Moore, Overton, Perry, Pickett, Robertson, Smith, Stewart, Trousdale, Van Buren, Warren, Wayne and White. Both plans include no monthly premium.

To enroll in the D-SNP, members must be eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. This plan combines the services offered by original Medicare and Medicare Advantage with Medicare Part D (drug coverage) and most Medicaid services. Benefits are coordinated through one health plan with a single provider network.

The MAPD plan combines Medicare Parts A (hospital) and B (medical) into one convenient product. This plan also includes drug coverage under Medicare Part D. MAPD plans offer certain preventive health care services at no extra cost to help keep beneficiaries healthy, detect diseases at an early stage and avoid preventable illnesses.

In addition to the new plans, Amerigroup Tennessee, Inc. serves more than 4,000 Middle Tennessee members in Medicare Advantage and Special Needs Plans in 11 Nashville-area counties, including Rutherford County.

Although enrolling during AEP, the plans will be effective Jan. 1, 2014.

Amerigroup Tennessee, Inc. is an HMO plan with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in Amerigroup Tennessee, Inc. depends on contract renewal. The benefit information provided is a brief summary, not a complete description of benefits. For more information, contact the plan. Limitations, copayments, and restrictions may apply. Benefits, formulary, pharmacy network, provider network, premium and/or co-payments/co-insurance may change on Jan. 1 of each year. You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium.

Premiums may vary based on the level of Extra Help you receive. Please contact the plan for further details.
