Amerigroup Georgia Awarded ‘Excellent’ NCQA Accreditation
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Friday, October 5, 2012) – Amerigroup Corporation (NYSE: AGP) announced the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has awarded the highest accreditation status of “Excellent” to its Georgia health plan, Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia.
Amerigroup Georgia is the only Medicaid plan in the state that has achieved “Excellent” accreditation, and one of few plans in the state holding this level of recognition. “We are pleased to have garnered the highest level of recognition for delivering quality care, support and services to our members in Georgia,” said Dr. Tunde Sotunde, chief executive officer, Amerigroup Georgia.
Amerigroup Georgia provides innovative approaches to delivering care including our telemedicine program, patient-centered medical home model, and provider incentive quality program, to improve the level of care and services it provides for members.
According to NCQA guidelines, the highest accreditation status of “Excellent” is awarded to organizations whose programs for service and clinical quality meet or exceed the requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement and whose Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) results are in the highest range of national performance.
