Amerigroup Expands Statewide in Georgia

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Friday, February 24, 2012) – Amerigroup Corporation (NYSE: AGP) announced today, that effective this month, its subsidiary Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia, was approved by the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) for statewide expansion of the Georgia Families program.

“We are excited to expand our services into the central and southwest regions of Georgia,” said Dr. Tunde Sotunde, chief executive officer for Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia. “Our expansion of coverage is focused on building new relationships, increasing access to quality care and improving health outcomes for the individuals we are privileged to serve.”

As a result of the expansion, Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia has moved into new service areas including Macon, Valdosta, Albany and Columbus counties, with the goal of improving access to quality care, including to members in rural areas of Georgia.

Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia recently partnered with the Georgia Partnership for Telehealth to provide all members with access to more than 40 specialties, including some delivered via telemedicine technology. By enhancing the level and access to care, Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia hopes to provide all members and providers access to one of the most comprehensive telemedicine networks in the nation.
