Michael Scarbrough is vice president of Medicaid Provider Services and Business Development in the Government Business Division of WellPoint, Inc. In this role, Mr. Scarbrough is responsible for organizing, contracting and managing the company’s overall provider delivery system for its Medicaid products, including provider collaboration and development of the patient-centered medical home strategy. He also leads overall business development for Medicaid throughout the country, and is responsible for the Blue Alliance organizations in Massachusetts, South Carolina and Texas.

Previously, Mr. Scarbrough held a similar role at Amerigroup Corporation from 2010 to 2012 when WellPoint acquired Amerigroup as a wholly owned subsidiary. With more than 20 years of health care experience, he has held several leadership positions, including chief operating officer of the Amerigroup Tennessee health plan and chief operating officer with TLC Family Care Health Plan. Prior to his work at TLC, he held various positions with Prudential Healthcare in a group model health maintenance organization.

Michael is a designated managed health care professional through America’s Health Insurance Plans and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. He has served on the TennCare Medical Care Advisory Committee and as chair of the Sustainability Work Group of the Health Information Partnership of Tennessee.
